Why Do We Sing?
Main How to Join Selection of Hymns and Anthems Choir Schedule Children's Choirs

The Redeemer Presbyterian Church Choir sings:

  • To glorify God in and through the ministry of music.
  • To proclaim the Word of God, that it may dwell richly within us.
  • To serve the congregation in corporate worship, encouraging its whole-hearted involvement.
  • To be the congregation’s voice in worship.
  • To edify fellow believers through the ministry of music.
  • To aid the spreading of the Gospel through the ministry of music.

Although a choir is brought together by the common bond of musical ability and interest in service in this way, each member’s commitment to other members of the choir transcends simple musicality. The choir ought to be a visible microcosm of God’s dealings with the whole church, a channel of his grace and glory, and a corporate respondent in the call to holy living, full commitment, and spiritual growth. Each of us has received other special gifts (see Ephesians 4), and as we generously share such gifts to equip one another for service and build up the body of Christ (teleios), each member is strengthened.
