Please Come Sing with Us

… be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms
and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to
the Lord with all your heart, giving thanks always and for everything
to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
submitting
to one another out of reverence for Christ.
(from Ephesians 5)

As you gather for the Divine Service on Sunday morning you will notice that there is a section of seating back behind the piano. This is for the Redeemer members who gather to provide support and encouragement to the remainder of the congregation in our singing and responses. Weekly, these members commit to an additional 4½ hours and an extra trip into town on Wednesdays! Not everyone can make this level of commitment but I am writing with the hope that you will consider the use of your gifts in this ministry.

We will gather at 8:00 a.m. each Sunday morning to prepare for that morning’s liturgy. You should plan to sing in both services; the choir is dismissed before the sermon in both services, so that you can remain at either service to complete your worship.

If you love to sing and to serve, please consider joining the Redeemer Choir. There are no auditions. Just come to a Wednesday evening rehearsal at 7:00 p.m. (beginning August 24, 2011). We will give you a folder and you can sing along with us. We meet in Covenant Hall.

In the Greater Austin arts community it has been our privilege to participate in the St. Cecilia Festival each year, held the first weekend of December.
This year, we will serve as the venue for the third evening, December 4, 2011. The Redeemer Choir will present Haydn's brilliant mass, Missa In Angustiis ("Mass for Troubled Times," or "Lord Nelson Mass") with soloists and the St. Cecilia Orchestra. For additional details, click here. If you would like to participate in this festival, there will be an opportunity for you to join us. You need only to contact us in the church office for details.

If you have any interest, I would love to speak with you.
