"My little
children, let us not love in words or in tongue, but in deed and in truth" I John
3:18
Deeds of love and compassion are at the root of showing
forth the love of Christ that is within us. As we have been shown mercy by our Heavenly
Father, let us show mercy to those in need. Following are the main focus areas of our
outreach efforts as a church. For more information, or to volunteer for any of these
ministry areas please contact Chris Fisher, Director of Mercy Ministries, at 708-1232 ext.

New Start
The New Start Ministry of Redeemer Presbyterian Church was
born as an effort to assist the poor, specifically those on governmental assistance. New
Start seeks to address the root causes of poverty, individual and corporate sin, as well
as the symptoms: homelessness, joblessness, illness, ignorance and dependence on
governmental assistance. New Start seeks to do this through biblical instruction,
one-on-one discipleship and accountability, timely financial assistance, and job training
and placement.

International Students
Redeemer Presbyterian Church has been placed providentially
near one of the largest universities in the nation that has one of the largest contingents
of international students in the world. More specifically, Redeemers meeting house
and staff offices surround Dexter Hall, the largest intensive English study program in the
area. Additionally, the ever growing numbers of multi-national corporations are bringing
families from all over the world to work in Austin. The core of Redeemers ministry
to international students and families is hospitality. Bringing foreigners into our homes
makes them feel welcome in this country, helps them to learn about life in the United
States, helps them to make friends, helps them with English skills and introduces them to
Christianity.

Elderly Ministry
The heart of Redeemer Presbyterian Churchs ministry
to the elderly is visitation. Ministry to the lonely and distressed by "just being
there" can oftentimes make the difference between despair and joy, hopelessness and
hope. Currently, our outreach effort consists of leading a Sunday evening worship service
and Saturday music programs at Westminster Manor, visitation at Westminster Manor and
individual neighborhood visitation and advocacy.

Prison Ministry
Currently, the Prison Ministry of Redeemer Presbyterian
Church has been done on an individual basis with members of our church visiting family,
church members and acquaintances in jail. Additionally, some amount of rehabilitation work
has been done for former prisoners through the New Start Ministry. Both of these valuable
efforts will be strengthened and encouraged through partnering with established prison
ministries in the months ahead.

LifeCare Pregnancy
The LifeCare Pregnancy center ministers to mothers seeking
abortions by providing teaching on the Biblical doctrine of the sanctity of life, medical
examinations including sonograms, counseling for women considering an abortion, and
friendship and assistance for mothers after they decide whether to terminate their
pregnancy or not. Many of the mothers of at-risk children are unmarried with many burdens
and needs. Redeemer Presbyterian Churchs continued involvement in this ministry is
vital to ministering to orphans and mothers in distress. Currently and in the recent past,
Redeemer has taken up the cause of the unborn and their families through: members serving
on the Board of Directors of Life Care, members volunteering with Life Care, Participating
in Sanctity of Life Sunday activities, raising money for the Life Care ministry through
offerings and other creative methods, and taking families in need of further assistance
into the New Start Program. In recent months our zeal has waned in this ministry and we
need to work to re-establish our former level of commitment.
